The "DIONA" project and the Department of IT in Production and Logistics at Technical University Dortmund and all other project partners take the protection of personal data very seriously. We process personal data that is collected when you visit our website in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations. In particular, the Data Protection Act NRW (DSG NRW), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Telemedia Act apply.

Scope of processing personal data
We generally only process our users' personal data to the extent that this is necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services. The processing of our users' personal data usually only takes place with the consent of the users. An exception applies in cases where prior consent cannot be obtained for factual reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by law.
Description and scope of data processing
Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer.
The following data is collected:
- Information about the browser type and version used
- Operating system of the accessing computer
- IP address of the accessing computer
- Date and time of access
The data is also stored in the log files of our system. This data is not stored together with other personal data of users.
When you use our newsletter registration form, the following additional data is collected and stored:
The scope of the processing of personal data concerns the data you entered when registering for the newsletter. The legal basis for the processing of personal data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. The data entered in the registration form of our newsletter will be used by us exclusively for sending our newsletter, in which we inform you about news of the DIONA project. After registration, we will send you a confirmation e-mail containing a link that you must click on to complete your registration for our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link, which is also included in every newsletter. Your data will be deleted immediately after you unsubscribe. Likewise, if you do not complete your registration, we will delete your data immediately. We reserve the right to delete your data without giving reasons and without prior or subsequent notification.
When you use our contact form, the following additional data is also collected and stored:
- Subject and content of the message
- (Optional) name and e-mail address of the person filling out the form
Purpose and legal basis for data processing
The temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable the website to be delivered to the user's computer. For this purpose, the user's IP address must remain stored for the duration of the session. (Necessity to fulfill the task of the university Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR)
Data is stored in log files to ensure the functionality of the website. In addition, we use the data to optimize the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. The processing and storage of the data entered in the contact form serves the purpose of establishing contact with the "DIONA" project. This only takes place with the consent of the data subject (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR).
Duration of processing and storage
Processing takes place during use until the end of the respective session.
If the data is stored in log files, this will be the case after 24 hours at the latest. After this time, the IP addresses of the users are anonymized so that it is no longer possible to identify the accessing client.
The personal data of the data subject will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose of storage no longer applies. Data may also be stored if this has been provided for by the European or national legislator in EU regulations, laws or other provisions to which the person responsible is subject. The data will also be blocked or erased if a storage period prescribed by the aforementioned standards expires, unless there is a need for further storage of the data for the conclusion or fulfillment of a contract.
SSL or TLS encryption
This website uses SSL or TLS encryption for security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as orders or inquiries that you send to us as the website operator. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you send to us cannot be read by third parties.

You have the right to information about personal data concerning you that is collected, processed or, if applicable, transmitted to third parties.

You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data if the processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) e GDPR.
3. Deletion (Art. 17 GDPR)
In particular, you have the right to have your data deleted after the legally prescribed retention periods have expired.
4. Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
In special cases, you have the right to restrict processing. This is the case if the data processing is unlawful, if you dispute the accuracy of the data collected or if you have objected to the processing. You can also request a restriction of processing if the data is subject to erasure due to the purpose having been achieved, but you need it to assert legal claims. You must request a restriction of processing.
5. Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
You have the right to have incorrect personal data corrected.
6. Right to revoke the declaration of consent under data protection law (Art. 7 GDPR)
You have the right to revoke your consent to data protection at any time. The revocation of the consent does not affect the legality of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent until the revocation.
7. Right to complain to a supervisory authority
If you have any questions or complaints regarding data protection, you can always contact a data protection supervisory authority. In our case, the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in North Rhine-Westphalia is responsible.

Integration of external web services and processing of data outside the EU
gstatic: A web service of the company Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, 4 Dublin, Ireland (hereinafter: gstatic) is loaded on our website. We use this data to ensure the full functionality of our website. In this context, your browser may transmit personal data to gstatic. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR. The legitimate interest lies in the error-free functioning of the website. gstatic has certified itself under the EU-US Privacy Shield agreement (cf. www.privacyshield.gov/list).
